Ukraine denounces 379 dead children and another 733 injured during the Russian invasion

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has counted this Sunday 379 Ukrainian children killed and another 733 injured since the Russian invasion began on February 24, according to a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office published on Telegram and broadcast by local media.

“As of the morning of August 28, 2022, more than 1,112 children were affected in Ukraine as a result of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data from juvenile prosecutors, 379 children died and more than 733 were injured,” the statement said.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office assures, however, that the data “is not definitive, since it is being investigated in the areas of hostilities, temporarily occupied and liberated areas.”

According to information from the Prosecutor’s Office published by the Ukrinform agency, the highest number of dead and injured children has been recorded in the Donetsk region, with 388; followed by the Kharkiv region, with 202, and the Kyiv region, with 116.

According to the data released in Ukraine, the rest of the children killed or injured correspond to the Cherniguiv region (68), the Mykolaiv region (67), the Lugansk region (61), the Kherson region (55) and the Zaporizhia region (44).

Ukriform recalls in its information that on August 26, two children aged 8 years and 1 year and 8 months died as a result of enemy shelling of the residential infrastructure of the village of Kamianka, Pology district, Zaporizhia region.

During the war, according to Ukraine, 2,328 educational institutions have been damaged by daily Russian shelling. Of these, 289 have been completely destroyed.
