The Russian Defense Ministry reported this Saturday on the “regrouping” of its forces in eastern Ukraine to withdraw them from the Kharkov region – where the Ukrainian Army is carrying out a successful offensive – to the Donetsk region.
“In order to achieve the objectives of the special military operation, the decision was made to regroup troops from the Balakliya and Izyum regions to increase efforts in the Donetsk direction,” the Russian command said in a statement.
According to Defense, “for three days an operation was carried out to reduce and transfer the group of troops from the Izyum and Balakliya group to the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic”, recognized by Moscow two days before the start of the military campaign in Ukraine.
“A series of diversionary maneuvers were carried out with real actions by the troops. In order to prevent damage to the Russian troops, powerful attacks against the enemy were carried out with the participation of aviation, missile troops and artillery,” the note indicates.
The Ministry of Defense has indicated that during the last three days the Armed Forces “annihilated more than 2,000 Ukrainian and foreign combatants, in addition to 100 armored vehicles and artillery pieces.”
