US says it has killed ISIS leader in Syria in drone strike

Al Agal, one of the organization’s strongest leaders, was attacked along with another person, a senior member of the self-styled Islamic State, who was seriously injured. Al-Agal was killed while riding a motorcycle near Jindayris, and one of his top aides was seriously injured, Pentagon Central Command spokesman Lt. Col. Dave Eastburn confirmed to AFP. The attack was carried out with drones.

“This operation was extensively planned to ensure its successful execution. An initial review indicates that there were no civilian casualties,” the Central Command statement read.

This killing comes months after another US operation killed former ISIS “caliph” Abu Ibrahim al Hashimi al-Qurayshi in northwestern Syria.
