US Space Force Leader: We are ready for combat | Digital Trends Spanish


This Wednesday, November 2, the change of command ceremony of the United States Space Forcewhere Bradley (B.) Chance Saltzman was named the new Chief of Space Operations, taking over from General John “Jay” Raymond.

In his first command speech, he stressed that the United States must prepare for a war in space and would like to make its units combat-ready.

In an official statement, the incoming CSO said: “The world is becoming increasingly dangerous and preserving America’s national security interests in space is getting more difficult every day… A resilient, combat ready and credible Space Force is indispensable to deter today, tomorrow and every day after that. In the worst case scenario, if deterrence fails, the Space Force will be an indispensable component of our joint force at war.”

The statement further called space a “war domain.”

Saltzman also said that making the space force a combat-ready member of the armed services branches “would not be an easy or short-lived task.”

General Saltzman graduated from Boston University and was commissioned in 1991. He has operational experience with missiles and space systems, as a launch officer for Minuteman III and as a satellite operator for the National Reconnaissance Office. He also served as the first Chief of Combat Plans for the Joint Space Operations Center, and later as Chief of Combat Operations.
