Likewise, the German firm announced the official launch of the manufacture of a new gearbox model for the international market: the MQ200 EVO.
It is a 5-speed transmission model that will be combined with the most modern generation of internal combustion engines from the Volkswagen Group and will be used to equip models of the VW, Audi and Seat brands.
According to company estimates, these new transmissions will have in the country a production of 400,000 units until 2025 that will be exported mainly to destinations in Europe and South Africa.
Last year, the production of the new MQ281 transmission began, which involved an investment of US $ 150 million and is fully developed at the Córdoba Industrial Center.
Both transmissions are part of an investment plan of the Volkswagen Group of almost US $ 1,000 million that aims to modernize its two Industrial Centers in Argentina and renew its products.
“Córdoba is one of our model plants in the region, from where gearboxes are exported to more than 10 destinations in the world”, remarked Thomas Owsianski, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Argentina.
The Córdoba Industrial Center is one of the eight Industrial Centers that the Volkswagen Group has in the world that produces components.
There it employs more than 1,200 people, who carry out their activity in three production shifts.
