Vueling recovers pre-pandemic activity with more flights in London, Paris and Spain

Vueling expects to recover activity levels this year prior to the pandemic thanks to the increase in international routes, with focus on london gatwick Y Paris Orly, and the consolidation of the domestic market. The airline has presented this Wednesday the flights planned for next summer, which include 120 destinations in more than 30 countries, doubles the connections at the English airport and offers 50 direct routes at Paris Orly. In its domestic program for Spain, the airline will operate more than 100 direct routes from Easter, which is expected to be a turning point in tourism recovery. The airline has launched a 25% discount campaign for flights this summer through the promotional code ‘summer2022’ until Sunday.

For Carolyn Prowse, commercial director of Vueling, the objective of all these measures is to effectively adapt to the demand, which is expected to move this year to international markets and mainly France and England. For Calum Laming, customer director of Vueling, the airline is in a position to become the engine of the recovery of the Spanish tourism sector.

The airline belonging to the IAG group will put on sale this year more than 320 routes, of which more than 220 are offered internationally, highlighting the new connections between London Gatwick and Malaga, Seville, Menorca, Granada and A Coruña, the last two, new connections to the London airport. In the domestic market, a market where Vueling has been the leader since 2012, the company maintains its recovery with pre-pandemic levels of activity, operating up to 100 routes (origin and destination in Spain). Thus, from March 26 to October 29, Vueling programs a total of up to 120 destinations in more than 30 countries, reinforcing the frequencies offered compared to 2021 and reaching a level similar to that of 2019.

The company has conspired to reduce the environmental impact of flights, with the efficient use of aircraft and routes from an emissions perspective, minimizing disruptions and helping the operations team in punctuality (from 92.13% last year) .

More presence in London and Paris

The main novelty next year will be the greater presence in London Gatwick, practically doubling operations compared to the summer of 2019. Specifically, the airline has scheduled 12 direct routes from the London airport during the summer season of 2022. Vueling also maintains its commitment to the rest of the British airports, with five new routes from the United Kingdom to Paris Orly opened last November, and adds up to 24 connections to destinations in Spain, Italy and France. Thus, Vueling maintains direct links between Paris and Newcastle, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cardiff during the 2022 summer season.

In France, specifically at Paris Orly airport, Vueling has significantly increased its capacity compared to 2019 thanks to the slots achieved. The airline plans to operate 50 routes this summer, which represents a great growth compared to the 11 routes available in the summer of 2019. Two unprecedented connections stand out, linking Paris Orly with Kiev (Ukraine) and the island of La Palma (Canary Islands).

In the rest of the international markets, Vueling plans to operate more than 220 connections for this summer, maintaining its presence in traditional markets for the airline such as Italy and the Netherlands. In the latter country, the new link between Amsterdam and Copenhagen stands out. Double offer of connections at Easter Vueling has scheduled for the Easter holidays, between April 8 and 18, 2022, more than twice as many routes as the same period in 2021. Specifically, the airline will operate 296 connections, 92 domestic and 204 international, and hopes that it will be a turning point in the recovery of tourism.

In the Spanish domestic market, the airline will recover the same levels next summer as in 2019, as was already seen in the peak summer months of 2021.
