Waze to Showcase Electric Car Charging Stations in the US | Digital Trends Spanish

Electric car owners will now have more reasons to use Waze while driving: The app, which is part of Google, will add data about electric vehicle chargers to their maps of the United States.

This new option appears together with a partnership with the German manufacturer Volkswagen, which will also allow to change the icon of the car to an electric Volkswagen ID.4, regardless of whether they drive on it or not. The charging stations will be shown on the map as other indicators appear and even the users themselves will be able to add new points for the rest to see.

According to Waze, this joint effort with Volkswagen comes at a good time, since electric cars are beginning to become widespread in the United States and more and more people buy one, from various brands.

It should be remembered that Google Maps added this option more than two years ago, so it could well be said that Waze is a bit late. And for now, this feature will only be available in the United States, although it seems like it will be a matter of time before charging stations appear on maps of other parts of the world.

Recently, Waze published its year summary (similar to what Spotify does) and revealed that drivers in Mexico and Brazil are the happiest in the world. In addition, 60 percent of the drivers of the application say they feel happy behind the wheel and 66 percent say that they prefer to drive the car rather than go in the passenger seat.

And when it comes to patient drivers, 60 per cent of Britons prefer to wait for the car in front to move rather than honk the horn.
