The next Marvel project in production these days is “El Muerto”, a film that will be based on a Spiderman villain of Latin origin and will be played by the singer Bad Bunny.
This October 4 it was confirmed that Jonás Cuarón, son of the Oscar winner, Alfonso Cuarón, will be behind the direction of this project.
But, what is El Muerto and who is the character?:
Also known as Juan Carlos Sánchez, The Dead is a superpowered fighter (thanks to a mystical mask) who fought against spider-man in a charity wrestling match, where he nearly unmasked spider-man before being subdued with a paralyzing poison.
“It’s amazing, it’s amazing,” Bad Bunny told early this year on Deadline about his involvement in The dead. “I love wrestling. I grew up watching wrestling, and I’m a wrestler. I’m a former champion, so that’s why I love this character. I think he’s the perfect role for me, and it’s going to be epic.”
For his part, Jonás Cuarón is known for the 2015 thriller Desert. The dead is in early development, and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is writing the script.
Sony Pictures is expected to release The dead in theaters January 12, 2024.
