Receive money in exchange for using WhatsApp? It may sound like a utopia, but it seems like it’s real.
According to the portal specialized in the messaging app, WABetaInfo, the service is testing a new reward system with which it will return part of the money sent from its payment service, WhatsApp Pay, to users. Currently WhatsApp Pay is limited to India and Brazil, so this function, called Get Cashback on your next payment (get a refund on your next payment), it will only reach those countries at the moment.
According to the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, there will be a direct access on the chat list screen from which we can receive a money refund for using WhatsApp Pay after 48 hours. It seems that the maximum amount that can be recovered will be up to $ 10 dollars, although the amount could vary when the function, still in beta, is official. It could also be different depending on the territory where it is launched, although at the moment there is not much information about it.
The system for sending and receiving money through WhatsApp debuted in June 2020 in Brazil, although the function faced some problems with the authorities in its early days. And it is that just a week after its premiere, the Brazilian Central Bank banned the function in the country in a fulminating way. As explained by the body itself, this decision was made in order to preserve an adequate environment of free competition and because it did not have enough time to verify that the service was safe for users. The service was restored in May 2021, almost a year after its initial launch.
