WHO warns of more dangerous variants of the coronavirus | Digital Trends Spanish

The Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) noted that there is a high probability that new variants of the coronavirus will appear that could be even more dangerous than those that are already known.

The agency also warned about the false feeling that may exist in some places about an eventual end of the pandemic.

“The Committee has expressed concern that the COVID-19 pandemic is being mischaracterized as coming to an end when it is nowhere near over,” said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“He has also warned about the high probability that new and possibly more dangerous variants of COVID-19 of concern will emerge and spread globally that may be even more difficult to control,” he added, as reported by the WHO on its Twitter account. .

For this reason, the agency has highlighted the need to encourage vaccination processes in the different territories.

“The committee has asked all countries to support the WHO call to vaccinate at least 10 percent of the population of all countries by the end of September.”

Finally, the WHO wants China to collaborate more with the investigation that tries to discover the origin of the pandemic, especially with more transparency when it comes to reporting the first cases of contagion.

“We ask China to be transparent and open, to cooperate especially by providing the raw data on the early days of the pandemic.”
