Workers of public social and health centers denounce “extreme lack” of personnel in Galicia

Nursing auxiliary care technicians at public social and health centers dependent on the Ministry of Social Policy denounce “extreme lack” of personnel in work shifts with “sufficient guarantees for correct and dignified attention to users.”

The employees assure that they work with a “great work saturation” since, as they have explained, “there are no personnel on the temporary hiring lists”.

Likewise, they have stated that the conditions of the contracts make many colleagues on the lists decide to opt for contracts at Sergas, private residences or other options. They describe part-time or weekend contracts as “garbage contracts” and attribute to their conditions that “the lists remain empty.”

“Our work overload exceeds, by far, the extreme limits in many departments of certain centers, causing injuries or sick leave that cannot be covered, in some cases, due to the fact that there are no personnel on the temporary hiring lists and, therefore, the care for the residents is not the adequate one that would be given to them with a full staff”, they protest in a statement.

Given this, some centers such as CAPD Redondela, as well as the second plant of CRAPD 1 in Vigo have filed complaints with Valedora do Pobo, since they insist that the workload is not acceptable.
