Xiaomi begins its avalanche of launches in Spain. The Chinese firm has just announced the arrival of its new Redmi Note 11 series, this time made up of no more and no less than four devices: the Redmi Note 11, el Redmi Note 11S, the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. Those that occupy us in this text are, precisely, the first two.
The Redmi Note series is one of the most popular of the firm, with nothing more and nothing less than 240 million units sold to date. It is a family made up of mid-range terminals, normally very balanced and which, as expected, is strongly committed to the quality/price ratio. That said, let’s see what the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11S offer.
This is how Xiaomi makes money – they lure you in and suck you in

Similar, but not exactly the same
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.
The Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11S are two brothers alike, mainly on the outside, but slightly different on the inside. The terminals share size, weight and finish, with simple backs in flat colors and a holographic version. There is a generous upper module for the camera, which we will talk about later, and it should be noted that the fingerprint reader is on the side and, surprisingly, we still have a headphone jack and an infrared sensor.
If we take a look at the screen, we will see that both devices are exactly the same. So they set up a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,040 x 1,080 pixels) and 90 Hz refresh rate. Said panel is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 and, according to Xiaomi, supports the DCI-P3 color space. The screen, by the way, is perforated to make room for the internal camera.
Redmi Note 11S.
Inside we begin to see the differences. The Redmi Note 11 incorporates a Snapdragon 680, while the Redmi Note 11S opts for the MediaTek Helio G96, both mid-range. They are accompanied by up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128 GB of internal UFS 2.2 storage. They are not the fastest components on the market, but they are solvent. It should be noted that none is compatible with 5G networks.
All this is given life by a battery of 5,000 mAh with 33W fast charge (the same technology for both) and Android 11 with MIUI 13. It is curious that Xiaomi has not decided to make the leap to Android 12, but at least it makes up for it with the latest version of its customization layer.

In photography is where we find the main difference between the two. If the Redmi Note 11 mounts a 50 megapixel main sensor, the Redmi Note 11S incorporates a 108 megapixel sensor (a Samsung HM2, to be exact). As always, the camera won’t take photos at this resolution automatically, but instead will combine nine pixels into one to capture more light and take smaller photos.
Otherwise, the two terminals they share the rest of the rear cameras, namely: an eight-megapixel wide angle, a two-megapixel macro camera and a two-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera, for its part, remains at 13 megapixels for the standard model and 16 megapixels for the Redmi Note 11S.
