Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2: Xiaomi’s most basic watch gets on the bandwagon of AMOLED screens

At the end of last year Xiaomi presented the Redmi Watch, your first smartwatch. It did this by offering a simple device, enough for the most basic tasks and at a low price. He came to our lands like Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite and today we met his successor, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2.

The device has been presented in China together with the new Redmi Note 11 and, at the moment, we do not know if it will reach Spain. It is expected that it will do so at some point like the rest of the brand’s watches, but for now it cannot be confirmed. In any case, the device is official, so let’s get to know him better.

The changes are inside

In aesthetic terms, there are not too many changes from the previous model. The smartwatch retains its square box and the right side button, which is now centered and not up. In fact, it has the same dimensions, although it is somewhat lighter. The changes, therefore, are on the inside.

The first thing that catches your attention is its screen, which is now not only AMOLED, but also grows diagonally. If the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite / Redmi Watch had a 1.4-inch LCD panel, the new watch mounts a 1.6-inch AMOLED panel with 320 x 360 pixel resolution. It goes without saying that it is tactile and in color and it should be noted that it has an “Always On” mode.

As for sensors, the main novelty is in the inclusion of a chip Dedicated GPS to which GLONASS and Galileo are now added, which allows you to do sports without having to carry your mobile with you. Otherwise, it improves the sensors and presumably their accuracy. The device is still capable of monitoring heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen level.

Finally, it should be noted that the device is capable of monitoring 117 sports modes (and that some recognize them automatically), that it is waterproof and that its 230 mAh battery promises a autonomy of around seven days. We will have to try it to find out.

Versions and price of the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2
