Yéremi Vargas’ father, Juan Francisco Vargas, was arrested in the early hours of Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter. The arrest took place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria after the minor had denounced the aforementioned events, as sources familiar with the case have informed Europa Press.
The Higher Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has reported that the detainee has been brought to justice this Tuesday, August 31, and that he has availed himself of his right not to testify. While the proceedings continue, the court of duty of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has decreed the provisional release for Vargas and has issued a measure of removal of the victim.
Juan Francisco Vargas is the father of Yéremi Vargas, who on March 10 marked the 14th anniversary of his disappearance when he was seven years old and who lost track while playing in a field near the family home in Vecindario, in Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Gran Canaria).
