Uber has made it clear that it wants to turn its app into a lifestyle product and not just focus on mobility anymore. An important step to achieve this is the new “Explore” function that has been incorporated into its mobile app.
According to what was reported by the company, this new tool will allow you to buy tickets for concerts, make reservations at restaurants and obtain discounts to travel to popular destinations.
How will it work?
From this Tuesday, March 1, customers of Uber in select US cities, you’ll see a new Explore tab now available in the app. At the touch of a button, a wide variety of recommendations for live events and food venues will be displayed.
Restaurant reservations are managed through Yelp; in fact, Uber will also display that company’s five-star ratings for locations in Explore. For its part, the integration with PredictHQ provides live event recommendations.
In this way, if people need to travel to any of these destinations, the platform will offer a 15 percent discount, with a maximum of $10 dollars, if the trip is part of the Explore suggestions. At the moment, it is unknown which ticket sellers the company is working with to develop its new tool.
According to Adib Roumani, the product manager for Uber Explore, this new feature has been developed “to take our customers beyond the trip,” he acknowledged in a statement.
