Z 9, the new Nikon camera that records video at 8K | Digital Trends Spanish

Nikon presents its new flagship model As for cameras: the Z 9, a mirrorless device that allows you to record video at 8K resolution.

However, the most important thing about these cameras are still photos. For this, Nikon includes in the Z 9 a 45.7 MP sensor that allows you to take photos at high speed: up to 20 captures per second in RAW format, 30 in JPG format and up to 120 if the image size is reduced to 11 MP.

Nikon says the Z 9 has the fastest autofocus of any of its cameras thanks to a new version of its EXPEED chip, a processor that transforms the light captured by the lens into high-quality digital images.

Autofocus is now more efficient in detecting different objects such as animals, vehicles, trains or the like due to an artificial intelligence algorithm that can even calculate depth and which was already present in Nikon DSLR cameras, but this is the first time that comes to mirrorless models.

As for video, the Z 9 allows recording at 8K (7,680 x 4,320 pixels) and 30 frames per second for a maximum of 125 minutes. The video is stored in an internal memory thanks to a new heat dissipation system. There is also support for more resolutions traditional such as 4K (3,840 x 2,160) at 120, 60 and 30 frames per second, as well as formats for professional use, such as ProRes 422 or Apple ProRes Raw.

As is customary in these cameras, there is a digital screen that functions as a viewfinder. In this case, it is a small LCD touch panel with a refresh rate of 60 frames per second.

The Z 9 will be launched at the end of 2021 and being a top of the line model it will not be so cheap: the price is $ 5,500 dollars, which will obviously increase by adding one or more compatible lenses.
